Dubai, UAE: The winners of the Beautyworld Middle East Awards 2022 were announced last night in a glittering ceremony at a masquerade ball at the Address Sky View. Among the winners was French perfumer Maurice Roucel, who received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. With almost 50 years’ experience in creating some of the most recognisable perfumes in the world, Roucel is one of the fragrance industry’s most famous names. He was selected as the winner due to his incredible impact on the regional market as well as his recognition among perfumers globally.
The highly coveted ‘Perfumer of the Year’ category was awarded to Dalia Izem of Givaudan. Izem said “As a perfumer we live by the emotions that we create. Having the validation from a professional jury of your peers is the ultimate honour. I’m thrilled that Beautyworld Middle East Awards 2022 selected me and this will encourage me to continue to thrive in the region.”
The beauty industry in the Middle East is attracting new players at a significant rate, leading to many entrepreneurs choosing the region as a base. The ‘Homegrown Brand of the Year’ award, celebrating the vision of regional beauty and fragrance brands conceived and launched in the GCC, went to Hindash Cosmetics.
The awards celebrated innovative products with the ‘Breakout Star Product of the Year’ going to Radiance Enhancer Essential Oil Blend from Emulsion Cosmetics, and the ‘Innovation of the Year’ awarded to Airparfum. Airparfum is a technological solution capable of faithfully reproducing up to 100 fragrance-aromas to allow users to experience them, without impacting their sense of smell or impregnating their skin.
Almost 400 key players in the beauty and fragrance sectors attended the event to celebrate their peers and discover the rising stars in the industry. Each attendee had the opportunity to design their own bespoke fragrance to take home, thanks to event partner Oo La Lab. The glittering gala also rewarded the ‘best dressed’ attendee of the evening, with prizes from Benigna Perfumes, Anfasic Dokhoon and Address Hotels.
“Beautyworld Middle East brings together the biggest brands and the brightest minds in the business, and the Awards ceremony really shines a spotlight on how much talent there is in the region,” said Flyn Roberts, Show Director at organisers Messe Frankfurt Middle East. She continued, “I’d like to offer my congratulations to the winners and finalists across all of the categories – you have raised the bar in an industry already renowned for the highest standards in creativity and innovation.”
Other winners crowned during the evening included ‘Consumer Fragrance of the Year’, which went to Club de Nuit Intense Man by Armaf; ‘Conscious Beauty Brand of the Year’, won by Eyecha Lashes and ‘Digital Marketing Campaign of the Year’, awarded to Dabur International for its Vatika Voices Campaign featuring inspirational female figures.
